Disclaimer: This document outlines the initial setting for the Chrono Dwarfs project. The lore will expand over time to incorporate new elements and deepen the existing narrative, enriching the player's experience and the game's world.
The Time Travelers, enigmatic beings with mastery over the temporal realm, were initially fascinated by Dhuronia and its inhabitants. Drawn to the world by its unique temporal energies and the potential for rich explorations in time manipulation, these travelers from different epochs decided to exert their dominance over the realm. The dwarfs, known for their craftsmanship and strength, became the focus of a grand experiment that would intertwine their fates with the fabric of time itself.
The "Battle that Changed Everything" was a turning point orchestrated by the Time Travelers. Employing their advanced temporal abilities, they launched a swift and devastating attack. The dwarfs, skilled in combat and magic, fought valiantly but were unprepared for the reality-warping powers of their adversaries.
Following their victory, the Time Travelers transformed the surviving dwarfs into Chrono Dwarfs — by subjecting them to constant manipulations. These dwarfs were granted unnatural longevity and resilience, locked in an endless cycle of life and combat by the Time Travelers' control over time. They could neither age nor die, eternally bound to the whims of their conquerors.
The Grand Arena was built as a monumental stage where these battles would unfold. Here, the Chrono Dwarfs are forced to fight, their existence reduced to mere entertainment for the Time Travelers and their guests. This grim spectacle serves as a continuous experiment in temporal dynamics, with the Chrono Dwarfs caught in an unending loop of combat dictated by their captors.
The dwarfs' enduring struggle and their fight for survival under such harsh conditions exemplify the cruel irony of their fate: they are strong and skilled warriors, yet they have no control over their own destiny, manipulated by those who have mastered the very essence of time.
The introduction of the Chrono Market coincided with the first battles in the Grand Arena. Here, Time Travelers from across different periods began to purchase their own Chrono Dwarfs as living champions.
In this strategic mode of the Grand Arena, teams of three Chrono Dwarfs each face off in a dual-objective battle. The primary objective is either to defeat all three opposing dwarfs or to destroy two out of the three Chrono Crystal towers strategically placed within the arena.
These towers are not mere structures but are imbued with vast temporal energies that stabilize and enhance the time manipulation fields within the arena. Destroying a Chrono Crystal tower disrupts the enemy player's ability to manipulate dwarfs, making them significantly weaker and altering the flow of battle. As such, these towers are both defensive and strategic assets that can be targeted to tactically cripple the opposing team’s capabilities.
This new form of gladiatorial battle became a focal point for both entertainment and power struggles among the Time Travelers, each seeking to assert dominance not just over Dhuronia but over time itself.
The initial phase of the lore focuses on these living Chrono Dwarfs, who represent the first generation of time-warped entities. They possess the unique abilities to fight in minor yet impactful ways, making their battles a complex interplay of strategy, foresight, and temporal mastery. Through this tumultuous beginning, the stage is set for further story-progression in the lore of Dhuronia. Future phases may introduce new types of Chrono Dwarfs or even potential rebellions against the Time Travelers' rule. Only the time will tell.
